Problems in the auto industry continued to take a toll on Dana Holding Corp. with quarterly sales plunging 49 percent to $1.2 billion, the firm said Thursday.

Earnings in the April-to-June period improved to a break-even profit from a loss of $122 million at the same time last year. Sales were down from $2.3 billion in the second quarter of 2008.

Executives blamed lower vehicle production, especially among off-highway vehicle for which the Toledo firm supplies parts.
