DESHLER, Ohio Parts supplier Claude Sintz Inc. said because of upheaval in the auto industry, it intends to close its plant permanently and lay off its work force of 50 employees by Oct. 4.

In a letter filed Tuesday with the state under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, Claude Sintz plant manager Wil Darst said the economic downturn and tighter commercial credit lines forced the company to close the plant. Hourly workers and management will be affected, the letter stated.

The company does metal forming and coining to make wire, rod, and tube components.
