Bond issue put on ballot by Fostoria school board

FOSTORIA Fostoria City Schools plan to try again to pass a school construction issue in November.

The school board agreed Monday night to place a 28-year, 2.76-mill bond issue on the ballot to help pay for construction of a $22 million school for prekindergarten through fourth grade at the high school/middle school campus. The measure was defeated last November.

The bond issue would generate $8.4 million for the project, which would replace Field, Longfellow, and Riley elementary schools. The state would contribute $13.7 million.

The board also agreed to seek a 0.5-mill levy to maintain the new school and a 0.4-mill levy to raise $122,000 for amenities not covered by the state.
