An off-duty Perrysburg Township police officer was hurt seriously on his way to work Thursday night when a motorist reportedly failed to stop for a stop sign and struck his vehicle.

Aaron L. Lentz, 31, of Fostoria was flown to University of Toledo Medical Center, where he was in serious condition.

The Ohio Highway Patrol said Mr. Lentz was northbound on Lime City Road just after 10 p.m. when a westbound car driven by Jacqueline Anderson, 27, of Perrysburg failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign at Five Point Road in Perrysburg Township. No citations were immediately issued, and the crash remains under investigation, troopers said.

Ms. Anderson and her passenger, Joshua Anderson, 26, of Perrysburg, were taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where Mr. Anderson was in fair condition. No information was available on Ms. Anderson.

Perrysburg Township Police Chief Ed Stribrny said Mr. Lentz has been a patrol officer with his department for three years.
