Applications to fill court vacancy being accepted

Applications are being accepted for the vacancy on the 6th District Court of Appeals resulting from Judge William Skow s death June 21.

The 6th District Court of Appeals holds jurisdiction in the counties of Lucas, Wood, Fulton, Ottawa, Erie, Huron, Sandusky, and Williams.

Applicants must be a resident and registered elector of one of those counties and not yet be 70 years old on the day they begin their duties, as dictated by Ohio law. They must be admitted to practice law in Ohio and have maintained their legal license for six years prior to assuming the judicial post or served as a judge of a court of record in any national jurisdiction. The Ohio Judicial Appointments Recommendation Panel will review the applicants.

Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Sept. 17. To continue in the position, the appointee must run in the November, 2010, general election. More information is available at ojarp.org.
