Authorities ID body found at Ottawa County marina

8/27/2009

OAK HARBOR Authorities Thursday identified the woman whose body was found this week bound and weighted in shallow water at an Ottawa County marina as Jennifer L. Snively, 26, of East Toledo.

They learned the woman s name from family members who called in after seeing detailed photos of the woman s tattoos on 5 p.m. television news broadcasts.

Detectives came to Toledo and met with family, including Ms. Snively s mother and brother. They positively identified her from photographs of the tattoos and surgical scars, authorities said.

Her last known address was on Earl Street in East Toledo at her mother s residence. But she also was homeless at times, said Ottawa County Sheriff Robert Bratton.

It s obvious this girl had a pretty rough life, living on the street, Sheriff Bratton said. We re going to do everything we can to find out who did this.

Ms. Snively had five children, Sheriff Bratton said.

Authorities believe that the body was put in the water at Lamberjack s Marina in Carroll Township within the past two weeks.

The body was weighted by two concrete blocks. The victim s arms were bound behind her back and her feet were tied together.

Three people on personal watercraft found the body Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to call the sheriff s office at 419-734-4404.
