MILAN, Ohio — A 19-year-old Norwalk man was fatally injured in a single-car crash Tuesday night in central Erie County, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Todd Jordan, the driver who was trapped in the wreckage for a time, was taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the patrol's Sandusky post.

Mr. Jordan was northeastbound on Shaw Mill Road west of Plank Road in Milan Township about 9:50 p.m. when he failed to round a road curve, causing the car to cross the centerline and go off the north side of the road, striking a utility pole before coming to rest, troopers said.

The driver was wearing a safety belt, according to the patrol.

The crash remained under investigation.

Milan is about 70 miles southeast of Toledo.
