Hancock County to help local port authority

9/12/2009

FINDLAY — The board of directors of the Blanchard Valley Port Authority has approved an agreement with Hancock County that it hopes will bring prospective development projects to the port authority.

The agreement states the county will advise the port authority of businesses and nonprofit organizations interested in financing projects with revenue bonds. A similar agreement was approved with the city of Findlay in June.

“The port authority was created in 2007 by the county and city to help promote economic development,” Robert Beach, chairman of the port authority board, said in a news release. “One way to do that is through the issuance of revenue bonds. This will give the port authority access to more projects.”
