$3.5 million federal grant approved for Toledo Express
9/18/2009The final funding-puzzle piece has fallen into place for a modernization of the BAX Global cargo hub at Toledo Express.
During a news conference Friday, U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) announced a $3.5 million federal grant that, along with a $2.8 million state loan and $1M in BAX funds, will allow enlargement of the sort facility at the hub and modifications to support wide-body aircraft docking, both of which will enable BAX to concentrate on international freight forwarding rather than its historic operation as a domestic hub.
The project is expected to retain 849 jobs and create 40 new.
