Ottawa Hills man wanted in burglary arrested in Arizona

An Ottawa Hills man wanted for breaking into a Sylvania home where another intruder was shot to death was arrested Thursday in Flagstaff, Ariz.

David A. Irving, 31, of 3907 Bancroft St. was picked up by federal marshals Sylvania police learned he had fled the Toledo area and was traveling through Arizona.

Irving was wanted on a charge of aggravated burglary stemming from an Aug. 28 break-in at 6945 Williambsurg Dr. The homeowner, Clay Hausenfleck, told police he shot one of the intruders, Louis M. Mason, 28, after hearing someone break into his home.

Mr. Hausenfleck was later arrested after police found some 200 marijuana plants growing in his basement. Police said this week they believe the intruders broke into the house to steal drugs.

Arrested earlier this week were Billy D. Wilkinson, 33, of 5123 Ryan Rd., who was charged with aggravated burglary, and Julie A. Britton, 25, of 2345 Saint Roberts Lane, who was charged with complicity to aggravated burglary. Police described Ms. Britton as Irving's girlfriend.

Irving is being held in the Coconino County jail in Arizona awaiting extradition.
