Child porn raid held

A 29-year-old Sylvania Township man was arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court in Toledo after he was charged with possession of child pornography following a raid at his residence the night before.

Shawn Michael Lennard, 29, of 5555 Flanders Rd., who was arrested at a second location in Sylvania Township, was ordered held in the Lucas County jail by U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Vernelis Armstrong pending a preliminary and detention hearing in the court Tuesday.

A witness assisting the Honolulu division of the FBI reported information about an individual using the Internet alias "boysdaddy," and "boysdaddy1," who later identified himself as "Shawn," according to a federal affidavit.

The witness then contacted the individual on a Web site. The individual chatted with the witness, attempting to transmit video, among other claims, the affidavit said.

The FBI then used the "Shawn" computer's IP address to obtain his street address. On Thursday night, the FBI followed Mr. Lennard from home to the 4800 block of South Crestridge Road nearby where they stopped the vehicle and detained him to reportedly prevent him from returning and destroying evidence. A search warrant was executed later Thursday at the Flanders address, where several items of digital evidence were seized, including files depicting child pornography, according to the affidavit.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Toledo office of the FBI.
