A Fremont man was killed Friday in a collision at the intersection of Hayes Avenue and Sullivan Road, a few miles east of here, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. Steven J. Lucas, 52, died at the scene, apparently from head injuries, troopers from the Fremont post said. Mr. Lucas was driving west on Hayes in a cargo van when a car northbound on Bartson Road attempting to cross Hayes to continue north on Sullivan pulled in front of him after stopping at a stop sign.

The Whitmer Panthers seemingly had all the momentum in the world in the closing minutes of Friday night's City League football showdown against visiting St. Francis de Sales in a classic battle of state-ranked teams. Whitmer (5-1, 2-1 CL), ranked ninth in Division I, had driven 58 yards to the Knights' 13 with 4:00 remaining. But that's where the momentum was stymied by a St. Francis defense that rose to the occasion and hung on for a 21-17 victory before a crowd of more than 9,000.

A Chicago-area man arrested at O'Hare airport who is accused of taping surreptitious nude videos of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was due to appear in federal court late Saturday morning, authorities said. ichael David Barrett was arrested Friday night as he arrived on a flight from Buffalo, N.Y., the FBI said. He faces federal charges of interstate stalking for taking the videos, trying to sell them to celebrity Web site TMZ and posting the videos online, the FBI said in a statement.

The Ohio attorney general's office is investigating the financial operations of the YMCA & JCC of Greater Toledo. "We are cooperating," Paul Schlatter, chairman of the YMCA's board of trustees, said Friday. "I guess it's their job to do that. We're not worried about it one way or the other." State Sen. Teresa Fedor (D., Toledo) confirmed she's been told by the attorney general's office that a query is under way. She stressed that she doesn't know specifics of what may have been requested from the nonprofit organization.

Andrea Schwarzentraub is no muscle-bound warrior, but the slight 32-year-old from Erie County has dented the nation's massive debt-collection dragon. U.S. District Court Judge David Katz ruled that the commonly used affidavit submitted by one of the nation's biggest debt collectors to collect $4,100 from Mrs. Schwarzentraub — and the debts of many others — was not legal. Judge Katz issued an injunction against the company, throwing into question thousands of collection lawsuits across the nation that used the affidavits to collect outstanding debts.

The Durbin family has been excited about the Toledo Walleye hockey team for a while. They've already got tickets to see a game this month - even if it might be a little different from what 4-year-olds Kacie and Kallie once thought. "At one point, I do think they thought fish were going to be playing hockey," said their mom, Michele, of South Toledo.

Dozens of people were displaced early Sunday morning after a blaze destroyed a building in the Hidden Cedars Condominiums Complex, Springfield Township Fire Chief Barry Cousino said. When firefighters arrived at the complex at 6201 Garden Road, they found flames coming through the roof of the 3-story structure. Fire Chief Cousino said families from the buildings 18 units were already evacuating when they arrived at 1:30 am. and no injuries were reported.
