Bowling Green police pact keeps pay unchanged for most

BOWLING GREEN — City police officers will not receive raises this year except those who qualify for step increases based on their years of service.

City Council last night approved the agreement with the Bowling Green Police Patrolman's Association, which is in the second year of a three-year contract. As part of the deal, the 46 patrol officers will get an extra 40 hours of vacation that may be taken between January, 2010, and June, 2011, when the contract expires, Personnel Director Barbara Ford said.

Council had approved similar pacts with four other employee groups. The freezes were negotiated in light of the city's budget problems because of falling income tax collections.
