Income tax collection off $12.2M

City income tax collections were down again over last year's revenue, the Finkbeiner administration said Thursday.

The city collected $12.2 million less in income taxes through Sept. 30 than during the first nine months of 2008. The year-to-date decline of 11.7 percent is a slight increase over the decline reported last month, which was 10.48 percent.

George Sarantou, City Council finance committee chairman, said expenses, not including police and fire, are down significantly, but revenue for red light cameras was below expectations.
