City of Toledo to start trash container rehab

10/29/2009

The city of Toledo's solid waste department will be conducting maintenance on the 12,500 trash containers provided to residents for the pilot program operated in different areas of the city to test automated garbage trucks.

The maintenance program is to begin Monday and last through Dec. 14.

Residents in the pilot program are to place both the gray and blue containers out by 7 a.m. the day both trash and recyclables are collected.

The containers should remain at the curb on days both trash and recycling is collected until 5 p.m., even if trash and recycling have been picked up.

On the day there is only trash collection, residents may remove the refuse container from the curb after pickup.

The city has more information about the program, as well as details about the change to citywide automation beginning in November on www.toledo.oh.gov.
