Arlington students raise funds to buy holiday pies

11/2/2009

Students at Arlington Elementary School raised $1,050 during a 10-day “Change for Pies” event in which they contributed loose change to buy frozen pies for those in need during Thanksgiving.

The money will be used to buy 110 pies from Market Day, a fund-raising food cooperative.

The school said that's enough to provide a slice of pie to 880 people while keeping $959 of what was raised. The pies will be divided up among area charities.
