FREMONT - A 51-year-old Fremont man was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed loaded gun and then was named as a suspect in last week's shooting of a 52-year-old Clyde, Ohio, man, Fremont police said.

The Fremont man is held in the Sandusky County jail pending arraignment. Additional charges against him are pending, Fremont police said.

Carlos Popoca, the victim, was flown to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, with life-threatening injuries. He was shot in the neck about 3:50 p.m. Friday at Shady Acres Trailer Park, 1015 North Main St. in Clyde. Witnesses described the gunman and his vehicle to authorities, Clyde police said.

A hospital spokesman said yesterday that he was a patient but withheld his condition, citing patient privacy laws.
