Konop to announce Children's Wonderland details on Monday
12/4/2009Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop expects to announce on Monday details for the Children's Wonderland opening at the Erie Street Market downtown.
Lucas County officials said they couldn't afford the Children's Wonderland this Christmas season, but Mr. Konop devised the plan to have volunteers set up displays and for Andrew Zepeda of 92.5 KISS-FM to manage the exhibit at the market building, 237 South Erie St.
The lessor of the city-owned market offered to donate space for the displays, which for 45 years have been staged at the Lucas County Recreation Center. People interested in volunteering should e-mail SaveChristmasInToledo@gmail.com, Mr. Konop said.
More than 100 people so far have volunteered.
The cost of admission is tentatively set for $5 for those who bring a can of food and $7 for those who do not.
The proceeds will be donated to Toledo Seagate Food Bank.
