BOWLING GREEN - An unidentified man was killed yesterday when he stepped into the path of a tractor-trailer on U.S. 6 west of State Rt. 25 in Wood County's Plain Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the semi driver, Hal Foster, 58, of Wayne, Ohio, was eastbound on U.S. 6 approaching the Route 25 exit ramp about 11:45 a.m. when a man walking west on U.S. 6 stepped into the road and was struck by the rig.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. He carried no identification.

Troopers last night said he was about 6 feet tall and had brown hair and hazel eyes. He wore a black sweatshirt with "BGSU" in green on the front, a green winter coat, a red Cavaliers ball cap, and black sweatpants. In his pockets were red knit gloves; a black headband; Marlboro Light menthol cigarettes, and a set of keys.
