Waterville Township hires new DARE officer

1/1/2010

A new DARE-certified police officer has been hired by Waterville Township, and the Anthony Wayne Board of Education will consider his appointment to replace the former officer at its Jan. 11 meeting.

The school district has the option to reject the township's pick for its DARE officer, schools Superintendent John Granger said.

The resignation of Waterville Township Police Chief Kathleen Hartle in October left the district without an officer to administer the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program to Anthony Wayne students. The school district suspended the DARE program in the fall pending the appointment of Chief Hartle's replacement.
