Monroe Co. fire probed as arson

ERIE — A garage at 8397 South Telegraph Rd. was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon, sparking an investigation by the Monroe County Fire Investigation Team, troopers at the Monroe post of the Michigan State Police said.

The Erie Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze. A home on the property was unoccupied because it is being renovated, troopers said.

A blaze Monday at a former gas station at 7428 South Telegraph Rd. in Bedford Township is being investigated as an arson.

Troopers Saturday night asked anyone with information about either fire to call police. A reward of up to $5,000 is available for those providing information that leads to the arrest or conviction of an arsonist, troopers said.
