MONROE - A man whom police termed a "person of interest" in the robbery of a Monroe bank was taken into custody about 3 p.m. yesterday at his home, Monroe police said.

The man, whose name was not released, was being held on a parole detainer pending a lineup next week, police Detective Larry Jenkins said.

He was picked up by police working with the man's parole officer.

"He's definitely a person of interest in our robbery," Detective Jenkins said.

About 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a man in his late 50s or early 60s robbed the National City/PNC bank branch at 202 North Monroe St.

The robber did not appear to be armed, police said.
