YWCA to use $50,000 to aid with breast health

1/30/2010

The YWCA of Greater Toledo has received a $50,000 one-year grant to increase awareness about early detection of breast cancer, including educating women about where they can get free or low-cost mammograms and clinical breast exams.

This is the seventh year the YWCA has received funding from the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund.

The YWCA program also will provide women with free transportation to breast health services and send annual mammogram reminders.

The YWCA's program, called the EncorePlus Breast Cancer Awareness and Assistance Program, has helped more than 11,500 women since 1992.
