A Northwood man is behind bars after barricading himself in his mobile home with a gun and engaging police in a two-hour standoff, authorities said.

Kenneth Schuler, 49, of 1905 Tracy, Lot 61, was being held Monday in the Wood County jail on charges of domestic violence, resisting arrest, and aggravated menacing in lieu of $25,000 bond.

Northwood police took an emergency call of someone screaming from the residence at Northwood Estates about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Northwood Police Chief Thomas Cairl said.

On scene, police kicked in the front door and rescued Dawn Elkins, 35, of the same address, and an unidentified child. Police identified Ms. Elkins as Mr. Schuler's "live-in roommate," the chief said. Mr. Schuler then locked himself in a bedroom with a shotgun, Chief Cairl said.

After nearly two hours, the Wood County Sheriff's Special Response Team convinced Mr. Schuler to turn over his ammunition about 1:30 a.m. Monday, Chief Cairl said.
