Two state troopers from the Defiance Post were injured early Sunday after their cruiser ran off U.S. 127 in Williams County about three miles south of West Unity, Ohio.

The car flipped several times before landing upright in a field, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Trooper Matthew Uran, 32, of Bryan, a passenger in the patrol car, was flown by air ambulance to the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly Medical College of Ohio Hospital, and transferred to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was in fair condition.

Trooper Jason Urbina, 25, of Holland, the vehicle's driver, was treated at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan Hospital.

The patrol car was northbound on the highway at about 12:30 a.m. and attempting to stop a vehicle for speeding when it went off the right side of the road, investigators said. The troopers' car then flipped several times and landed on its wheels.

Both troopers were wearing seat belts. The incident remains under investigation, the patrol said.

Earlier this month, a young state trooper was killed outside of Carey, Ohio, after his patrol car went off Ridge Township Road 95 and rolled.

Andrew Baldridge, 25, who lived in Carey, was responding to a request for mutual aid from a Wyandot County sheriff's deputy when the incident occurred Feb. 4. His training partner, Trooper Mark McLaughlin, who was in the front passenger's seat, was injured in the crash.
