2 men sentenced in Wood County for selling drug

BOWLING GREEN — Two Custar, Ohio, men charged with selling the prescription painkiller OxyContin in the Custar area were sentenced Monday to 30 days in the Wood County jail.

John DeSmith, 57, and Timothy Thompson, 56, were placed on community control for two years by Wood County Common Pleas Judge Reeve Kelsey, who ordered them to forfeit all firearms. DeSmith also was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service, and Thompson was ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and pay a $500 fine.

Both men pleaded guilty last month to unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance and permitting drug abuse. County sheriff's deputies confiscated a sawed-off shotgun and suspected drugs from their home Oct. 9, 2008.
