OAK HARBOR, Ohio — A damaged rail track closed Locust Street at the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing Saturday morning in this Ottawa County community, authorities said.

The street closure was in effect since 9:45 a.m. A detour was established via Sate Rt. 163, State Rt 590, and State Rt. 2, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Authorities did not release the cause of the damage.

Police said there had been no crash or any other reported incident at that location. Michael Cook, a Norfolk Southern assistant track supervisor who was at the scene, refused to discuss any details of the damage, including its cause.

Mr. Cook said only that he was supervising "maintenance work" at that location and that he expected to finish the job by about 12:30 p.m., at which time traffic on Locust Street was to return to normal.

Oak Harbor is about 25 miles southeast of Toledo.
