FAYETTE, Ohio — A Canadian man was injured when a freight train and his tractor-trailer rig collided yesterday at a rail crossing on U.S. 127 just south of the Michigan state line near this Fulton County village, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Patrick Sergerie, 34, of Quebec, Ont., the driver of the semi, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and then was cited for failure to yield, troopers at the patrol's Bowling Green post said.

The rig was southbound on the highway in Gorham Township about 8:45 a.m. when it struck the Norfolk Southern train, which was westbound, troopers said.

No one on the train was injured, according to the patrol.

Fayette is about 40 miles west of Toledo.
