A Holland man was cited in a two-vehicle Sylvania crash yesterday that sent nine Timberstone Junior High School students to a hospital to be checked for injuries, authorities said.
Adrian Mitchell, 31, was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead. He was driving a sport utility vehicle when it rear-ended a Sylvania school bus, Sylvania police said.
Eight of the students were taken to Flower Hospital by ambulances, and one was driven there in a private vehicle. Police and Sylvania Schools officials did not release the names of the students.
With 32 students aboard, the bus was stopped at a red light about 7:50 a.m. on westbound Sylvania Avenue at Sylvan Lakes Boulevard, police said, when it was struck.
