Toledo mother charged in assault on daughter's boyfriend

The mother suspected in the beating of her daughter's teenage boyfriend has been charged in the crime.

Donna Sims, 40, was charged in Toledo Municipal Court with kidnapping. She was released from the Lucas County jail yesterday on $10,000 bond.

Police say Ms. Sims drove her sons to her daughter's home in the 500 block of Eastern Avenue to confront the girl's boyfriend about 10:15 p.m. Friday.

The brothers are accused of pointing a stolen handgun at Marshawn Murphy, 16, of central Toledo and beating him. He refused treatment for his injuries, police said.

Bond was set at $100,000 each for the brothers on Monday in Toledo Municipal Court.

Alonzo Webb, 23, of 1217 South Ave. is charged with kidnapping, receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon, and having a weapon under disability.

Jamarlo Hornes, 19, of 538 Nebraska Ave. is charged with kidnapping, receiving stolen property, and carrying a concealed weapon.
