Area airports to share $2.6M for renovation

Five northwest Ohio airports are to share in nearly $2.6 million from the Federal Aviation Administration for runway construction and renovation and other maintenance projects.

Toledo's Metcalf Field is to receive $1.1 million for the final phase of a runway rehabilitation project approved last month by the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority board.

Other area projects receiving funding are $1,075,000 for the Sandusky County Regional Airport Authority to extend its taxiway; $286,275 for the Seneca County Airport in Tiffin to acquire land for flight-approach protection; $75,000 for the Erie-Ottawa Regional Airport in Port Clinton to buy snow removal gear, and $63,175 for the Village of Bluffton to acquire land for development at the Bluffton Airport.
