A 19-year-old man approached a disabled veteran as he was walking home and knocked him down to rob him, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor said Tuesday.

Edward Kinney of 1439 Pinewood Ave. pleaded no contest yesterday in Common Pleas Court to one count of robbery. He faces up to eight years in prison at sentencing March 30 by Judge Frederick McDonald.

Assistant Prosecutor Frank Spryszak said that Kinney approached the 54-year-old victim Jan. 20 as he was walking on Ontario Street toward Lagrange Street. Kinney knocked down the man and went through his pockets, Mr. Spryszak said.

The victim, who is a Vietnam War veteran and who lost part of an arm in a later accident, told the man that he did not have money but that he could give him food that he was carrying. Kinney left the man, telling him he'd be back and would expect money.
