Scam phone calls ask for banking information

3/18/2010

FINDLAY — The Hancock County Sheriff's Office is warning residents to beware of phone calls from people who claim to represent Medicare.

The callers, who say they are updating their file to add vision and dental care, will ask people to confirm their information by reciting their bank name, account number, check number, and routing number.

Sgt. Mike Cortez said residents never should give out personal identification or bank information to anyone.

Anyone receiving such a call should contact local law enforcement.
