Waterville resident jailed in drug death
3/19/2010WAUSEON - A Waterville man was sentenced this week to six years in prison for trafficking in heroin and reckless homicide stemming from the Aug. 31 death of a Swanton woman.
Jason T. Hintz, 23, pleaded no contest to the two charges as part of a plea agreement. In addition to the prison sentence, Fulton County Common Pleas Judge James Barber ordered him to pay an unspecified amount of restitution and suspended his driver's license for three years.
Paul Kennedy, an assistant Fulton County prosecutor, said Hintz provided the drugs that caused the death of Amanda Hudson, 29. He said Hintz also refused to dial 911 when Ms. Hudson's young children saw that she was in physical distress and asked that someone call for help.
Ms. Hudson was found dead the next morning, Mr. Kennedy said.
Two other men who were at the home at the time also have entered pleas in the case.
Gregory Kolbeck, 22, of Perrysburg pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and was sentenced March 1 to 180 days in jail and three years of community control. Steven Maiolo, 22, of Waterville, pleaded guilty Jan. 19 to trafficking in heroin. His sentencing date has not been set.
