Westhaven figures' motion granted

A Lucas County common pleas judge has granted the request by two members of the former Westhaven group to withdraw their motions for early release.

Judge Stacy Cook this month granted the motions filed by the attorneys for Scot Ulmer and Roger Morr. Both men had initially asked late last year to be released early from prison after serving not quite nine months of their four-year sentences.

Ulmer and Morr were among four Westhaven officials convicted a year ago on multiple charges of securities fraud and making false statements.

Also convicted was Ulmer's father, Westhaven founder John Ulmer, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison by Judge Cook last March.

Anthony Garzony, a former Westhaven president, was ordered to serve five years of community control and to make $20,000 in restitution.

The Ulmers were ordered to pay more than $15 million in restitution. Morr was ordered to pay $1.6 million in restitution.
