MONROE — A Monroe parolee who was arrested after he allegedly rammed a pickup truck into a South Dixie motel was arraigned yesterday in Monroe County District Court.

James Friar, 36, who moved into the Motel 7 after being released from prison on March 10, is charged with one count of felony home invasion.

Monroe County sheriff's deputies arrested Friar about 8:30 p.m. Sunday near LaPlaisance Road after he allegedly entered the garage of a nearby home. Authorities received a call from someone at the motel about an hour earlier informing them that a pickup had damaged the front door of the lobby at 15390 South Dixie.

Deputies and Monroe police combed the area and a helicopter was sent up to search for Friar.
