COLUMBUS, Ohio — State officials want Ohioans to know the drill for the upcoming peak tornado season.

Outdoor sirens will be sounded statewide at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday and a message will be broadcast over the emergency alert system, all as part of a test to remind Ohioans of the threat from tornadoes.

Officials say while tornadoes can occur at any time, during any month, Ohio tends to see them from April through July.

Ohio Emergency Management Agency Director Nancy Dragani says preparedness is

the best defense against severe weather. She says planning ahead and knowing what to do will lower the chances of injury or death, or loss of property.
