2 men shot overnight outside central Toledo bar

Two men suffered serious gunshot wounds overnight Friday after an an argument at a central Toledo bar escalated to exchange of gunfire in a nearby parking lot.

The identities of the victims were not immediately available. Both remain at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with serious injuries, after one was shot in the leg and the other in the abdomen, Toledo police Sgt. Lou Vasquez said.

At least one victim was a bystander who was not involved in the argument but was walking to his car parked in the lot where shots were fired, Sergeant Vasquez said.

Several patrons were thrown out by bar staff after an argument began inside the Blueprint Sports Bar and Lounge, 1919 Monroe St., police said. The shots were reported to be fired about 3:30 a.m. Friday in a nearby parking lot in the 1900 block of Monroe. A group of people seen in a parking lot near the bar dispersed when police arrived, and the victims showed up later at Mercy St. Vincent, Sergeant Vasquez said.
