A 1995 Cadillac DeVille brought the highest bid - $3,200 - Saturday at the Toledo Police Department's first auction this year of abandoned and forfeited vehicles.

The auction's 109 vehicles, including the abandoned DeVille and some off-road vehicles, sold for $131,085.

There were 548 registered bidders at the police department's North Toledo impound lot at 198 Dura Ave.

Net proceeds from the abandoned vehicles, $96,520, will go to the city's general fund.

The remaining proceeds, $34,565 from forfeited vehicles, will go into the law enforcement trust fund.

Among forfeited vehicles, the highest bid was $2,300 for a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, according to police. The lowest sale among cars and trucks was $450 for an abandoned 1987 Lincoln Continental. The police typically hold at least four vehicle auctions a year.
