Toledo City Council on Tuesday night approved a five-year agreement to accept trash generated within Lucas County and collected by Stevens Disposal & Recycling Service to be deposited at the city-owned Hoffman Road Landfill for approximately $600,000 a year.
Council approved the contract 9-2. Councilmen Joe McNamara and D. Michael Collins voted no. Councilman Lindsay Webb was not present.
The agreement limits the firm to 23,000 tons of waste a year.
Council also voted to put more collection firms to work to try to bring in $18.7 million in delinquent water and sewer bills. The ordinance allows the city to contract with three agencies.
