One month after being certified to face criminal charges as an adult, 15-year-old Anferney Fontenet appeared in a Lucas County Common Pleas courtroom Tuesday charged with raping a woman on a West Toledo street in daylight.

He pleaded not guilty to one count each of rape and aggravated robbery and was ordered held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison. He is charged in the Jan. 19 midday assault of a woman on a Royalton Road sidewalk near Lyman Avenue. Authorities said he held a pair of scissors to the victim's neck and ignored her pleas to stop the assault.

When he left, he allegedly took the victim's cell phone with him.

Visiting Judge Ronald Bowman set an April 30 pretrial hearing. The case was assigned to Judge Stacy Cook.
