Track clear to resume runs on line to Chicago

BRYAN - Norfolk Southern expected to reopen at least one of two tracks on its Toledo-Chicago railroad line late last night after removing wreckage from a 31-car freight-train derailment on Monday, a railroad spokesman said.

Spokesman Rudy Husband said though reports have circulated about a wheel failure causing the accident near the Williams County hamlet of Melbern, the derailment remains under investigation. No one was injured.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said passenger-train service through Toledo, canceled Monday night and yesterday morning, was expected to resume last evening with trains departing New York, Washington, and Chicago. Delays were likely because of the derailment.
