Hayes Center seeks help to match gift

FREMONT — The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center seeks donors to match a $5,000 anonymous gift from a foundation.

The challenge gift was designated to benefit children by promoting school-bus tours to Spiegel Grove and other educational efforts.

Matching dollars raised by the Hayes Center may be used as the center sees fit.

The $5,000 pledge was made to the center's “Gateway to the Future” campaign, which began in November, 2009, with a $10,000 challenge gift from the Sandusky County Communities Foundation Inc. The center is working to raise more operating funds in light of a 45 percent cut in state funding.
