Flood warning issued for areas in NW Ohio

4/27/2010

The National Weather Service Monday issued flood warnings for the St. Joseph, Tiffin, and Maumee rivers in the northwest portion of the state as a result of heavy rains that have soaked the region.

The weather service said the Maumee River at Waterville was just 18 inches under the 9-foot flood stage, which could result in flooding in nearby low areas this afternoon.

Flood warnings were extended for the Tiffin River where it flows through Defiance, Fulton, and Williams counties, particularly near Stryker, where water was expected to crest above the 11-foot flood stage Thursday.

The St. Joseph River could crest near Newville, Ind., tomorrow before entering Defiance County.
