According to Webster's, the definition of passionate is expressing intense feeling. A picture next to that word should be one of Sue Bixler.

Sue is never content with status quo. She strives to get involved in every situation and makes it her priority to assist others in and out of the classroom.

She teaches middle school science and a high school advanced physical education class. She is the adviser for the High School Student Council, Science Fair Advisor, School Emergency Response Team, Coordinator of the Annual 8th Grade Aquatic Field Trip to Gibralter Island, and volunteers to tutor students after school.

When asked if she or her student groups can assist with a cause, Sue doesn't hesitate to get everyone involved.

Sue's science students have met or exceeded expectations every year on the state testing.

She has applied for and been awarded numerous grants to assist her students in the classroom. Under her advisement, the Whiteford High School Student Council has assisted needy area families, held a blood drive, established a legacy account for future school purchases, raised money for breast cancer research, and made every effort to get other students involved in school life.

“Sue has everything a master teacher should,” said Kelly Tuller, high school principal. “She has compassion, commitment, concentration, and competence. These traits make her exemplary in her field and profession.”
