A Toledo demolition firm has been fined $22,000 for 19 workplace safety violations in inspections in the past six months by federal regulators.

Burge Wrecking LLC, doing business as ACME Dismantling LLC, was cited for one willful violation and eight serious violations from a November inspection by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials at a Front Street work site. Violations included failure to obtain a required engineering survey, improper storage of oxygen cylinders, and potential fall hazards.

In January and February inspections, six serious violations were cited at the same work site, including not developing a proper respiratory protection program and potentially exposing employees to air contaminants, especially copper fumes.

The company can contest the violations and the fine.
