A Monclova Township man was killed late Thursday when he was thrown from his motorcycle and struck a fire hydrant.

James C. Tucker, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second motorcyclist, Adam J. Chrisman, 22, of Monclova Township was not injured.

State troopers said the two friends were traveling southbound on Coder Road a half-mile south of US20A about 11:45 p.m. when the two motorcycles made contact, prompting Mr. Tucker to lose control of his motorcycle.

Troopers said Mr. Tucker's motorcycle went off the north side of the road, and Mr. Tucker was ejected and struck a fire hydrant. Mr. Chrisman went off the north side of the road and laid his motorcycle on its side.

Troopers said neither of the men was wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation.
