MONROE — Authorities placed Raisinville Elementary School under lock down Thursday morning after a parent allegedly made threats, school officials said.

The school at 2300 North Raisinville Rd. in Frenchtown Township remained in a secured situation at noon, said Bobb Vergiels, school district spokesman.

He said a woman earlier went to the school building and tried to get her two children out of the school but was refused by school administrators.

After leaving the school, she allegedly made threats in a phone call to return to the school and "cause harm," Mr. Vergiels said.

The Headstart pre-school program that is held in the school district's former Monroe Townsite Elementary School also was placed under lock down because a child of the woman attends school there, the spokesman said.
