Sylvania Township resident pleads not guilty to rape

5/13/2010

A Sylvania Township man charged with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl appeared in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday.

Joshua Bey, 28, of 7344 Kest Lane pleaded not guilty to one count of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition.

Because the alleged victim is younger than 13, he faces up to life in prison if convicted. Mr. Bey remains in custody at the Lucas County jail in lieu of $200,000 bond set yesterday.

Authorities said Mr. Bey is charged with having sexual contact with the girl in late April. The charges are for incidents that allegedly occurred a total of three times April 28 and 30.

Judge Gary Cook set a May 26 court date.
