Donovan Jacobs, 27, of 1140 Steeple Chase Circle, was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Lucas County EMS.

The shooting occurred about 10:40 a.m. at 1205 Steeple Chase Circle in Steeplechase Apartments near Dorr Street and North Holland Sylvania Avenue, police said.

Police identified the victim's gray Lincoln as the getaway vehicle at the bank robbery this morning of a Charter One Bank branch in South Toledo at gun point. The robbery at 1460 South Byrne Rd. between Glendale Avenue and Brenda Drive occurred about the time the bank opened at 9 a.m., according to Toledo police.

About 10:40 a.m. he was sitting the car when police approached to arrest him as a suspect in the bank robbery. He then drove across the street, lost control of the car, and struck the external stairs at 1205 Steeple Chase.

At some point he shot himself, police said.
